ABOUT F1RST
F1RST (Financial Information Support System) is a financial support system to replace the existing UM Procurement & Payment Management System (E-procurement). University is looking into a modern financial support system which should effectively support user activity including budgeting, procurement and payment management.
This new system is needed for UM to continue to grow, evolve and meet the needs of its stakeholders both now and into the future. The University has undergone a significant journey to reach the point of initiating the implementation of the F1RST system. The selected solution is built using in-house resources.
DRIVERS FOR CHANGE
The implementation of F1RST is primarily motivated by the limited life span of the current system. Extensive system maintenance and support are required to sustain the current system. The implementation of this system allows UM to take advantage of the latest technologies, thereby enabling business enhancements to deliver an outstanding financial experience. UM needs to significantly improve the user experience to improve the efficiency of business processes and to reduce costs.
This project seeks to:
- Address the risk to the University of Malaya posed by dependence on an aged procurement and payment management system.
- Bridge the gap between the existing system and UM's current and future needs by implementing new functionality that increases the emphasis on budgeting, procurement and payment management.
- Align and eliminate unnecessary processes/workarounds, paper document circulation, and reduce support and maintenance costs.
